Now you might be asking, “Well, why is music important at Holy Family?” and to that I say, opportunity. Recently, a student at Holy Family, Alex Olvera (Cybersecurity, 2024), came up with an idea to start a student-run music club at HFU, for those who want to get started playing instruments and making music.
Following an interview with Alex, I asked him why he thought a music club would be important. He responded by saying, “Music is a form of art” and “People who follow up in the music industry really want to express themselves but don’t know where to start. So being the music fan that I am, I decided to start a club” So, music can be a way for someone to break out of their shell and really get active, especially at Holy Family.
Holy Family University does not have much music selection throughout the campus. During events, they play some generic music over speakers, but a really good way to connect with students is to have a live band, or group, play music. Having a student-run music club might be the way to connect with the Holy Family community!
If you’re really interested in music and aren’t really sure where to start, try joining the new music club! You can contact Alex at his email account, aolvera@holyfamily.edu! If you’re not really interested in being in a club (or don’t have the time), then check out some of the music venues and artists listed in or around Philadelphia!
