Trick or Treat Yourself: Halloween Treats That Will Give You Chills!

Ever find yourself tired of eating the same old chips and salsa at gatherings? Spice your Halloween celebration up this year with these Halloween-themed treats! Not only will they taste wickedly good, but they will also be fun to make. Below is a list put together by Holy Family students. They can be made in your dorm for late-night Halloween fun or at home if you commute.

Halloween Vampire Cookies:

Difficulty Level: 🎃

Ingredients and materials:  Cookies (Store-bought or homemade), frosting, marshmallows, and almonds.
One of my favorite treats to make every year is vampire teeth cookies. They are so cute and simple to make. They only need a few ingredients and they do not take up much time. You only need cookies, frosting, marshmallows, and almonds. Simple, cheap, and quick.

Halloween Dirt Cups

Difficulty Level: 🎃

Ingredients and materials: Plastic cups or cupcake liners, pudding, gummy worms, and crushed oreos.
Aubrey Beckler is an Early Childhood Education major class of 2025. Aubrey shared her favorite treat with me as well. I’m sure many of us can remember eating “dirt” as a kid. This takes a spin on the classic treat and spooks it up. I love this idea! It is extremely easy to make no matter where you are staying; on campus or off.

Classic Halloween Candy

Difficulty Level: 🎃

Ingredients and materials: Candy and bowl.

Joseph Primavera is Secondary Education History class of 2025 and he just prefers the classics. His favorite candy is Reese’s. This is a great suggestion for those of us who want to skip all the hassle and just put out a bowl of candy.

Vampire Margarita Mocktail

Difficulty Level: 🎃🎃

Ingredients and materials: Salt, food coloring, beet juice, lemon wedge, apple cider, ginger, and wine glass.

We all love fun drinks. This drink will resemble vampire blood and taste delicious. It has the right amount of sweetness and bitterness to balance it out perfectly. It is rather simple to make and only takes about 5 minutes. This drink does require many ingredients but they can be found at almost any grocery store. Do not miss out on this fun mocktail.

Brain Cupcake

Difficulty Level: 🎃🎃

Ingredients and materials: Cake mix, icing, oven, and freezer.

A new treat I found this year was on TikTok (of course). This video shows you an easy way to make fun brain designed cupcakes. They are fairly simple to make but they do take a bit more time than the last one. This ones for all the zombie fans out there.

Pumpkin Cake Pops

Difficulty Level: 🎃🎃🎃

Ingredients and materials: Cake mix, icing, oven, and mixing bowl.

Rianna Shields class of 2025 is a Secondary Education History major. Rianna loves sweet treats and she shared this recipe with me. This cake-pop recipe is great for Fall and Halloween. The best part is that it’s made with pumpkin. This recipe is a bit harder for beginners but it’s great for anyone up to the challenge.  Make your Halloween ‘spooktacular’ this year with these great treats! No matter where you’re staying, these treats are for you.

Cecily Sullivan class of 2025 is a Secondary English-Education major. Her passions include reading, writing, and music. She loves attending concerts, Halloween season, and visiting arboretums.
