On November 14th and 15th, our very own Theater Club will be hosting a very special (and free) play in the Education and Technology Center!

Triple-threat Savannah Hannigan (Class of 27’) wrote, directed, and is starring in her very own play. She is also co-directing with Peter DeAngelo (Class of 27’). I myself have been very fortunate to join in as a member of stage crew, and although this play has been brewing for many months –technically even years– it has been an honor to be a part of the production and observe Savannah and Peter’s craft come to life.
The play follows the story of four characters: Violet, Elias, Noah, and Taytum. As the story unfolds, we witness the intertwined actions of the four and uncover the painful past that drives Violet and Noah’s need for revenge on their now exes. Taytum and Elias are best described as the perfect match for each other, pretentious and manipulative in almost all ways possible. Meanwhile, Noah and Violet are the not so helpless victims in our scenario. Noah is a hopeless romantic desperately trying to salvage her relationship with Noah, slowly realizing that she deserves better. Violet on the other hand is a spitfire, almost giving back Elias a taste of his own medicine in some scenes but still withholding for the sake of keeping the one she loves.
Without revealing too much, both Violet and Noah slowly find out the truth as the story goes on through a braided narrative of past and present. As the truth unravels, the play explores not only the desire for getting even, but also the emotional aftermath of slowly finding out their partner is being unfaithful. In a synopsis by Peter DeAngelo, he explains, “Violet and Noah are two strangers with something terrible in common; their partners are cheating on them……with each other. Violet wants revenge. Noah, not so much. Join the confrontational Violet and the nervous Noah as they go on a Revenge Roadtrip!”
When I asked Savannah to give me some background information on the play, I admired her vulnerability to share what it was like to be able to have the privilege to put on a play that she wrote nearly 4 years ago in her alma mater Theater program.
Savannah shared, “I remember being super anxious to write this play for a project back in my junior year of high school. As I wrote this play, I began thinking about how cool it would be to see these characters come to life on stage, but since it was just a high school project I never thought it would happen. Now seeing the words I wrote come to life on stage, I’m very proud and grateful for this wonderful cast of individuals that have put their energy into my image.”
As we get closer and closer to showtime, we are very excited for everything to come together for you guys to see. Everyone is so happy to be able to share the experience with you all, and looking forward to this weekend. The directors, actors, and crew have worked very hard to give you guys this show, neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom will stop us from putting on our play. With all of that being said, come see Revenge Roadtrip Friday, November 14th and Saturday, November 15th at 7pm in the ETC Auditorium! All are welcome!
