Imagine yourself traveling down the halls of Holy Family Hall, a place where one has become accustomed to running into friends or listening to lectures. It is a relatively normal day, when suddenly Jack the Ripper creeps out from behind the corridor and begins to sprint towards you. The terror begins to sink in as there is no escape.
This vivid imagery is brought to you by Meggie Farber, a junior Secondary Education English student at Holy Family. Farber and her family have been working on the execution of Holy Family’s Haunted House for much of the past year. The idea is simple, a guest checks into the hotel named the Black Raven Inn & Spa. The hotel is named after her favorite author Edgar Allan Poe. Once a guest is inside, they will encounter various characters awaiting them within different rooms.
“Halloween is my favorite holiday,” Farber said. “The past two years have been very successful and the SEO wants this to be my legacy when I graduate. Guests can expect to see an electric chair this year. We are keeping many of the same aspects that worked well last year.”
Farber’s motivation for organizing the haunted house doesn’t stop at her legacy. Using the Black Raven Inn & Spa, she was able to partner up with the Ferocious Fighters, a Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Charity.
“When the original charity closed, I wanted to do something to help,” she said. “They were so appreciative of what we did last year for them. This past summer I got the opportunity to meet the people who started Ferocious Fighters. I got to to meet Patrick, his mom, and their therapy dog Ziggy. It was really special to me.”
The haunted house will take place on October 26th from 7 pm – 11 pm. Farber is asking for anyone that is interested in getting involved in the event to please contact her.
