Based off of the comics created by the late Stan Lee and the adaptation directed by Anna Boden, the 2019 Captain Marvel keeps the audience guessing throughout the film, due to every twist and turn until the very end.
The main character, Vers (Brie Larson), spends the movie trying to figure out who she is and where she fits in after suffering memory loss. After finding herself on Earth, Vers is able to start to piece her life back together with the help of some new friends, and a few old ones.
Since the start of the 2017 “MeToo” movement, as well as Hollywood promoting female leads, directors, and producers, the choice to have Larson play the lead proved important.
Having this Captain Marvel follow the original comics with a female felt much more inspiring with everything she goes through trying to prove her worth in a male-dominated work field. Captain Marvel elevates above the movie being just another superhero movie.
The most powerful scene in the movie is when Vers has a conversation with the superior intelligence, and the audience journeys with Vers into her past through flashbacks and sees her get back up after every time she falls.
I give this movie a 10/10 and highly recommend it. This is a perfect addition to the Marvel Universe. Since Captain Marvel has been added to The Avengers, she will become another valuable team member for protecting the Earth and Her inhabitants.
