Throughout seven weeks, the Philadelphia Eagles have been rolling as they carry an undefeated 6-0 record into a week eight matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Because of the team’s success, it has been difficult for people to find any weak spots for the team. General Manager Howie Roseman is aware that this team is a legitimate Super Bowl contender for the 2022 season and wanted to improve depth at a certain position in order to ensure that.
The Philadelphia Eagles traded away a 2023 fourth-round pick and acquired defensive end Robert Quinn from the Chicago Bears. Quinn, who has been in the NFL for 12 years, brings even more talent to this Eagles defensive line that is filled with talented players such as Brandon Graham, Jordan Davis, and Javon Hargrave. Depth was needed at this position especially after losing another defensive end as Derek Barnett suffered a season-ending injury earlier in the season.
Quinn has been on many teams throughout his career such as the Rams, Dolphins, and Cowboys. In this trade, he is coming from the Chicago Bears who have a 3-4 record this season and are just coming off a victory against the New England Patriots. Many people, especially Chicago Bears fans, view this trade as an absolute steal for the Eagles as they believe Quinn is worth much more than a fourth-round pick.
With the trade deadline about a week away, Howie Roseman did not want to take the risk and wanted to complete this deal as soon as he could. Similar to the Super Bowl-winning 2017 season, the Eagles are going to try to bring in players that will help them keep up their undefeated record and make a deep run in the playoffs this year. This is just the beginning of what could be a week of big trades for the Philadelphia Eagles.
